Anyone hit with high minimums on gold IRA rollovers? What

Diving into this Gold IRA thing has been eye-opening, but not always in a good way. I've been doing my due diligence, looking to roll over about $300k from an old 401k into something a bit more tangible. With all the talk of inflation and the general unpredictability of the market lately, having a chunk in physical gold just feels right. Especially running a legacy bourbon operation here in Lexington, I appreciate things that stand the test of time, you know? Gold definitely fits that bill.
My issue is these minimum investment requirements some of these companies are throwing around. I'm seeing quotes from $25k all the way up to $50k just to open an account. For a direct rollover, it seems a bit steep just to get my foot in the door. I get that they have overhead and all that, but it feels designed to push out anyone not playing with seriously big money. It makes me question if it's even worth it for a portion of my portfolio, or if I should just dump the whole thing in to hit their minimum.
Am I missing something here? Is there a reason these minimums are so high for gold IRAs compared to, say, opening a standard brokerage account? And for those of you who've gone through a rollover, what kind of minimums did you encounter? Any providers out there that are a bit more flexible for someone not looking to drop a half-million all at once? I’m trying to diversify, not put all my aged whiskey barrels into one vault.
