Anyone here with a smaller 401k rollover to a Silver IRA?
- •About three years ago, I rolled over a portion of my old 401k into a Gold IRA, about $150k worth.
- •Had a good experience, everything was pretty smooth.
- •But now I'm looking at rolling over another, smaller chunk – maybe about $40k-$50k – and this time I'm thinking about a Silver IRA.
About three years ago, I rolled over a portion of my old 401k into a Gold IRA, about $150k worth. Had a good experience, everything was pretty smooth. But now I'm looking at rolling over another, smaller chunk – maybe about $40k-$50k – and this time I'm thinking about a Silver IRA. I know silver can be a bit more volatile, but with everything going on these days, I feel like diversifying into another tangible asset makes sense. Plus, as a border town guy in El Paso, I see firsthand how fast things can change, and having something outside the traditional system just feels right.
My old company was great for the Gold IRA, but I’m wondering if there are better options out there specifically for smaller Silver IRA rollovers. I mean, $40k isn't nothing, but some companies seem to cater more to the huge portfolios. Are there any companies that offer lower minimums or more competitive fees for this kind of amount in a Silver IRA? I'm not looking to get fleeced on storage or setup fees given the scaled-down investment this time around.
I’m also curious about people's experiences with different types of silver – coins versus bars, specific mints, etc. For my gold, I went with common bullion, but I'm open to suggestions for silver. Any tips on avoiding numismatic scams or just generally getting the best bang for my buck? Would love to hear from anyone else who's done a similar rollover into silver from a smaller 401k or a Roth conversion.
