Anyone have custodian recs for a Gold IRA? Feeling a bit lost.

Okay, so I’m really trying to make sure I’ve got all my ducks in a row for my Gold IRA. I’ve been building up my portfolio, pretty happy with about $75k in physical gold and silver now, mostly some nice American Gold Eagles and Silver Canadian Maples. I've been doing a lot of reading and feel pretty good about the "why" of precious metals for long-term stability, especially with all the market wobbles lately. I’m thinking next year when my term as mayor is up, I’ll have a bit more time to really dig into this, but for now, I’m trying to set things up as best as possible.
My big question right now is about custodians. I’ve used a traditional brokerage for my 401k for years, but this whole self-directed IRA thing with physical metals is a different beast. I'm based here in Boise, so while I don't necessarily need someone local, I do want a company that feels reputable and reliable. I’ve seen a few names pop up in my research – Equity Trust, Strata Trust, Goldstar Trust – but honestly, it’s a lot to wade through. I’m looking for something straightforward with decent fees, but more importantly, solid customer service. I’m not a professional investor, just a regular guy who wants to protect his savings.
Has anyone here had particularly good or bad experiences with a specific custodian? What were the fees like – any hidden surprises? Did you find their online interface easy to navigate? I really appreciate honest feedback from people who have actually gone through the process. It's a significant chunk of my retirement savings, and while I’m feeling good about the investment itself, setting up the right infrastructure is making me a little anxious. Any recommendations or warnings would be incredibly helpful.
