Anyone found a good Gold IRA for under $100k?

    • Which is great, genuinely, for those who are there.
    • But I'm curious if anyone has had a positive experience with a company for a slightly smaller investment, say in the $50k-$100k range?

Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of discussions here about the best Gold IRA companies, and it seems like most of the recommendations are geared towards folks with really significant portfolios – multi-millions, etc. Which is great, genuinely, for those who are there. But I'm curious if anyone has had a positive experience with a company for a slightly smaller investment, say in the $50k-$100k range?

I'm a lawyer here in Philly, and while my overall portfolio is doing quite well (sitting comfortably between $500k-$1M), I'm really just looking to diversify a piece of it into precious metals for wealth preservation. I've been doing a lot of reading about inflation fears and geopolitical uncertainty, and it just feels like a smart move right now. I don't need a white-glove, assigned-account-manager-for-life kind of service, but I also don't want to get nickel-and-dimed on fees or stuck with a company that has terrible customer service when I have questions. My main concern is finding a trustworthy custodian for the physical gold.

I've looked at a few of the big names – American Hartford Gold, Augusta Precious Metals – and while they seem solid, I often see minimums that are either slightly above where I'm comfortable starting or just implicitly seem better suited for much larger sums. I'm not trying to imply they're bad companies, just wondering if there are other, perhaps lesser-known, gems out there that are more approachable for someone looking to put in, say, $75,000 for their first Gold IRA.

Has anyone here with a similar size investment gone through the process and found a company they'd genuinely recommend? Or perhaps one to avoid? Any insights on fees, storage options, or rollover processes for this specific investment bracket would be hugely appreciated. I'm aiming for something that minimizes the administrative headaches. Thanks in advance!

Totally get this! I had a similar experience a while back. Felt like every article or recommendation was for an ultra-high net worth individual, and I was just trying to diversify a portion of my retirement savings, not buy a private island. It was surprisingly hard to find info for more modest amounts.

Ended up going with [COMPANY NAME REDACTED] after a lot of digging, and they were actually pretty transparent about their fees and minimums for smaller accounts. Good luck with your search!

Hey, totally get where you're coming from. It often feels like these discussions assume everyone's rolling in it. Out of curiosity, what kind of fees were you seeing that made you feel like they were geared towards larger portfolios? Was it asset-based, or more the flat annual custodian fees that seemed high for smaller amounts?

Honestly, I think the *best* Gold IRA for under $100k might not be a Gold IRA at all. For that amount, the fees, storage, and spread could really eat into any potential gains, especially compared to just buying physical gold or a gold ETF yourself. Have you crunched the numbers on the fees for that lower amount? Might be worth a second look.
