Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of chatter lately about silver's industrial demand and how that's going to play out with all the inflation talk. My husband and I, we've got about $75k of our retirement savings in a Gold IRA, and a decent chunk of that is in silver. We're based out here in Kansas City – gotta keep that tangible wealth, you know? Started really getting into it back in 2020 when everything felt so uncertain. I just trust a physical asset so much more than paper these days. With us being farmers, it just makes sense.
My concern right now is that even with all the talk about electronics and solar panels needing silver, it doesn't seem to be pushing the price up as much as I’d hoped. I mean, we saw that little dip last week and it made me a bit antsy. I know they say it’s a long-term play, and I definitely believe in that – but with everything getting pricier at the grocery store and the cost of feed for the cattle going through the roof, it’s hard not to check the spot price every morning with my coffee.
I’ve been reading some articles suggesting that demand from EVs and green energy could surge in the next few years, potentially outweighing any temporary dips. Does anyone here have a good feel for how quickly that industrial demand actually translates into price movement? Is it more of a slow burn, or could we see some significant jumps if these big infrastructure projects really kick into gear?
I guess I'm just trying to temper my expectations a bit, but also feel good about our decision. What are your thoughts on the industrial demand's impact on silver, especially looking at the next 2-5 years? Are any of you adjusting your allocations based on these factors? Always appreciate hearing from fellow investors!
