Anyone else seeing these kinds of returns on their Gold IRA after 5 years?

Just hit my five-year mark with my Gold IRA, and I'm really curious how other folks are faring. I started this thing back in late 2018 with a chunk of change – roughly $150k went into it, coming from some liquidated tech stocks that I felt were getting overheated. As a doctor here in Boston, my portfolio is pretty diversified, but I always felt like true tangible assets were missing from the mix, which is why I dipped my toes into gold.
My initial motivation wasn't necessarily about insane gains, but more about hedging against inflation and market volatility. With everything going on politically and economically these past few years, having that physical asset gives me a sense of security that frankly, bonds just don't. The actual returns, though, have been pretty surprising. My initial $150k is now valued around $230k to $240k, depending on the daily spot price. That’s a gain of about 53-60% in five years, which averages out to roughly 9-10% annually. Not too shabby, especially considering the relative stability of the investment.
I opted for a mix of American Gold Eagles and some Canadian Maple Leafs. No fancy numismatic coins, just pure bullion for the most part. The storage fees sting a little, but it's a cost of doing business, I guess. I'm actually considering adding another $50k to it next year, rebalancing some of my other investments. Has anyone else seen similar or even better performance over the last five years? Or am I just getting lucky with my timing?
Would love to hear about others' experiences, especially if you've been in the game longer or have different types of gold in your IRA. What are your thoughts on projected performance for the next 5 years? I’m feeling pretty good about this investment right now, but always open to different perspectives.
