Okay, so I finally pulled the trigger and rolled over about 75k of my old 401k into a gold IRA a couple of months ago. I've been in the music industry my whole life, mostly behind the scenes here in Nashville, and honestly, the stock market always felt like some distant, complicated beast. My financial advisor kept talking about diversification, and after seeing everything go wild these past few years, gold just felt...safer, more tangible.
I ended up going with Augusta Precious Metals after doing a ton of research. Their customer service was awesome, really held my hand through the whole process, which I appreciated since this stuff was totally new to me. They didn't have any minimums that I recall specifically for my rollover amount, and their fee structure seemed pretty straightforward. Did anyone else consider them, or use them for a smaller setup like mine? What were your experiences?
My biggest concern now is really just understanding the market better for gold coins – I went with a mix of American Gold Eagles and Canadian Gold Maples. Are there any resources out there people recommend for keeping up with coin values specifically, beyond just the spot price? I'm not planning on selling anytime soon, obviously, but it'd be nice to feel more informed. Is there anything specific I should be keeping an eye out for in terms of news or economic indicators that tends to move the needle for physical precious metals?
Always appreciate the wisdom from this community. It’s given me a lot of pointers already!
