Anyone else just feel *better* after a 401k to Gold IRA rollover?

Honestly just feeling a lot more secure after finally pulling the trigger on rolling over about half of my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I had roughly $180k sitting in a pretty standard S&P fund, and while it was doing okay, I just kept looking at my dad’s portfolio and how much he lost during the dot-com bust and 2008. Living down here in El Paso, you see a lot of ebb and flow, and frankly, the stability of physical assets just makes more sense to me, especially with everything going on globally. It’s like, one minute you’re talking about trade deals with Juarez, the next you’re wondering if your retirement fund is going to get hit by some geopolitical earthquake.
The whole process took about three weeks from start to finish. I decided to move about $90k over. The biggest hiccup was probably just getting my old 401k provider to send the funds directly to the custodian without them trying to mail me a check first – had to explain that a couple of times. Once that was sorted, picking out the actual coins was pretty cool. I went with a mix of American Gold Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs. There’s something deeply satisfying about knowing those assets are physically held, rather than just numbers on a screen.
I’m not saying it’s for everyone, and I definitely still have diversified investments in the market, but having a solid chunk in gold just really makes me sleep better at night. My business here on the border is good, but you always have one eye on the horizon, you know? Anyone else feel a similar sense of relief after their rollover? Or am I just overly paranoid?
Also, for anyone just starting to look into this, I found the "Learning Center" at https://learn.goldirablueprint.com/?forum super helpful when I was first researching. It breaks down a lot of the common questions and different types of precious metals you can hold. Definitely worth a look if you're on the fence or want to understand the mechanics better.
