Anyone else find these storage fees a bit much for Gold IRAs?

Okay, so I’ve been looking into rolling over a good chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I’ve been sitting on about $75k in that account for a while, and with all the economic uncertainty, honestly, it just feels like the smart move to diversify. Especially being a small-town mayor here in Boise, I feel a real responsibility to be fiscally sound, and that extends to my personal investments too. I've been doing my homework, and the idea of having something tangible, something that historically holds its value, really appeals to me. I even checked out Silver vs Stocks to get a better perspective on how precious metals stack up against traditional markets over the long haul – really insightful stuff, by the way, especially looking at the 10-year trends.
My biggest hang-up right now is the storage fees. I’m seeing different structures – some flat annual fees, some a percentage of the assets. For a portfolio my size, say around $75k to $100k, a 0.5% or even 0.75% annual fee really adds up over time. It just feels like it eats into the whole 'preserving wealth' aspect if these fees are constantly chipping away at it. I understand the need for secure, insured storage, especially for something as valuable as gold, but I'm trying to figure out if there's an industry standard I should be aiming for, or if I'm just looking at the wrong providers.
Has anyone here with a similar-sized Gold IRA (or even smaller/larger, really) found a provider with particularly reasonable storage fees, or maybe a structure that felt more fair? I'm trying to get a feel for what's "normal" and what might be a little excessive. Would love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have for negotiating or finding better terms. It's a significant decision for me, and I want to make sure I'm doing it right for the community and my family.
