Any good Gold IRA companies for smaller accounts?

Been seeing a lot of posts from folks with multi-million dollar portfolios talking about their Gold IRAs, which is awesome for them, but it got me thinking. I've got a decent chunk saved up – pushing towards that million mark after decades in the Navy and some smart investments here and there – but I wouldn't call myself "small potatoes" and I wouldn't call myself "whale" either. Somewhere in the middle, I guess. Definitely looking to diversify my retirement away from just the standard paper assets, especially with everything going on in the South China Sea and the overall global economic winds shifting.
I set up my Gold IRA a few years back, probably around 2018 or so, and it’s been a really solid hedge. Living out here in Honolulu, you feel a lot more connected to the geopolitical shifts, and seeing the instability in various parts of the world just reinforces my belief in physical assets. My current provider has been adequate, but I'm curious if there are better options out there, particularly for folks like me who aren't trying to roll over $5M but still want top-tier service and security for say, a $500k-$1M portfolio.
Are there companies that really excel in that sweet spot? I'm looking for competitive fees, excellent storage options – preferably outside the mainland U.S. if that's even a thing for IRA gold, though I assume most are domestic – and a smooth process for adding to the account or eventually taking distributions. Any recommendations from others in a similar boat? Or if you've had a great experience with a company that caters to all sizes, I'm all ears. What’s your experience been with different custodians?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who values a more hands-on approach or has specific insights into how these companies handle things like international economic volatility. It's not just about inflation for me, it's about genuine stability in an increasingly unpredictable world. Thanks in advance for any insights, mahalo!
