Almost 5 years in with my Gold IRA - feeling pretty good!
- •Hard to believe it's been almost five years since I made the jump and diversified a chunk of my retirement into a Gold IRA.
- •I remember agonizing over it, running all the numbers as an accountant does, and talking myself out of it a dozen times.
- •Ended up rolling over about $70k from an old 401k back in late 2019, right before the world went sideways.
Hard to believe it's been almost five years since I made the jump and diversified a chunk of my retirement into a Gold IRA. I remember agonizing over it, running all the numbers as an accountant does, and talking myself out of it a dozen times. Ended up rolling over about $70k from an old 401k back in late 2019, right before the world went sideways. Best timing ever, honestly.
My total portfolio is hovering around the $220k mark right now, and that Gold IRA portion has definitely pulled its weight. I'm sitting on roughly $115k in that account today. It hasn't been a straight line up, obviously, there were some dips, but the overall trend has been fantastic. The peace of mind knowing a portion of my retirement isn't directly tied to stock market fluctuations is incredibly valuable to me. Plus, the tax benefits for a qualified rollover are pretty sweet.
Living here in Atlanta, I've seen the cost of everything creep up, and seeing my gold holdings steadily grow has been a huge comfort. I'm curious for others who've been in Gold IRAs for a while, how have your returns looked over the 3-5 year mark? Are most people seeing similar growth, or did I just get lucky with my entry point?
Thinking about potentially rebalancing a bit in the next year or so, maybe adding another $10-15k if the market dips slightly. Anyone else planning similar moves or just holding steady? What are your thoughts on precious metals' outlook for the remainder of the 2020s?
