Okay, so I've been pretty hardcore into gold for my IRA these past few years. Got a solid chunk of my portfolio, probably around $300k, comfortably sitting in physical gold, stored right here in Salt Lake. My advisor, who's usually pretty conservative, has been singing the praises of silver lately. I was always a bit hesitant, thought of silver as gold's little brother, maybe not as serious. But after a few long conversations and looking at the numbers, I finally pulled the trigger and diversified a portion of my gold IRA into silver a couple of months ago.
The main driver for me was the gold-to-silver ratio. It just felt like silver was so undervalued compared to gold. Plus, the increasing industrial demand for silver, especially with all the green tech initiatives, really made a compelling case. I'm not looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, but I do see significant long-term potential for silver to catch up. It also felt good to not have all my eggs in one precious metal basket, even if it is gold.
I’m curious if anyone else here has made a similar move recently? What were your reasons? And for those who are purely gold bugs, what are your reservations about adding silver? My advisor usually guides his other clients this way too, so I'm wondering if this is a broader trend people are seeing. I’m thinking about adding a bit more if the ratio stays favorable.
