401k to Gold IRA transfer timeline - anyone done this recently?

Hey all, circling back on a topic I’ve been researching for a while: getting my 401k into a Gold IRA. I’ve currently got about $200k in my old employer’s 401k, just sitting there, and frankly, I'm getting increasingly antsy about the current market volatility. Been seeing a lot more news about potential economic downturns, and frankly, as someone hoping to retire early (aiming for 55, currently 42), I’m just feeling the need to diversify beyond stocks and bonds that seem to be on a rollercoaster.
I’ve done a decent amount of preliminary research into Gold IRAs, including figuring out the type of metals I’d want, custodian options, etc. The good news is, my current 401k is with a former employer, so rolling it over shouldn't be too complicated in terms of needing their approval or anything. What I’m really trying to nail down now is the actual timeline for a direct rollover. I’m thinking about pulling the trigger in the next couple of months, before things get even crazier, and I want to have a realistic expectation.
For those of you who have recently done a 401k to Gold IRA transfer (especially if it was a significant amount, like over $100k), how long did the whole process take you from start to finish? From the moment you initiated the rollover request with your old 401k provider to seeing the physical gold secured in your new Gold IRA? Any unexpected delays? I'm based in Minneapolis, and while I know custodians are nationwide, sometimes local bank processes can throw a wrench in things with checks or wire transfers. I used the Eligibility Checker on Gold IRA Blueprint and confirmed I'm good to go, so now it's just about logistics.
Also, any advice on what to look out for regarding fees or potential hold-ups during the transfer itself? I’m trying to avoid any surprises that could delay getting my assets protected. Appreciate any insights from your experiences!
