Finally pulled the trigger on my 401k to Gold IRA rollover, feeling good!

Just wanted to share an update for anyone on the fence about moving some of their retirement into precious metals. After months of weighing pros and cons, especially with all the economic uncertainty swirling around, I finally decided to roll over about $150k from my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I'm a real estate agent down here in Miami, and while the market's been crazy good for a while, I'm just getting that gut feeling it can't last forever. Diversification was key for me, especially since a big chunk of my personal wealth is also tied up in local properties.
The process itself was surprisingly straightforward. I worked with Augusta Precious Metals – did a ton of research and they seemed to have the best reputation for transparency, which was a huge deal for me. Their team walked me through everything, from understanding the different types of eligible gold and silver coins to the paperwork for the direct rollover. I was a bit nervous about the whole thing, transferring that much money, but they made it pretty painless. The funds cleared, the metals were purchased, and now they're chillin' in a secure vault. Honestly, it's a huge weight off my mind knowing I've got that tangible asset backing me up.
My main goal here is long-term protection for my retirement nest egg. I'm not looking to get rich quick with gold, but rather to preserve what I've built. I'm in my late 40s and actively building towards a comfortable retirement, so capital preservation is becoming more important than aggressive growth. The whole "inflation is transitory" narrative just isn't cutting it for me anymore, especially seeing how much everything costs down here lately. Plus, the idea of having something outside of the traditional financial system feels really empowering.
Anyone else recently do a similar rollover? How are you feeling about your decision now? And for those who've held gold in their IRA for a while, any insights or tips you wish you knew when you started?
